WELCOME

February 10, 2010

Anyone who isn’t currently on our email list and would like to be should send that information to Ginny Boynton at gaboynton@juno.com, and please pass this information on to others who interested in having their children challenged academically.

Any student who was identified as gifted at the elementary level should be placed in the Special Interest classroom at the middle school with Brenda Reed at Eagle View or Brooke DeMarco.  This is for students with and without GIEPs.  Even if your child was deemed not in need of specially designed instruction at the elementary level, since there is an additional program for gifted students at middle school, they will be in that class.  Please contact your student’s guidance counselor if that doesn’t happen in the fall or contact me for information, and pass this information on to others who might have a similar situation.

I have posted documents summarizing Dr. Van Tassel-Baska’s initial review of our gifted program as well as her re-evaluation during the spring of 2011

We will once again be having our annual games party in the Eagle View cafeteria on Friday, January 27th.  All Special Interest and Cluster Classroom students and their parents are invited to come and share snacks and games.

Our initiative to recognize CV’s outstanding Cluster and SI teachers last spring was well received, and we did that again this spring.  Please consider who you might nominate next year for that honor.   Click here to read our Special Interest and Cluster Teacher Nominations from 2009-2010

Our Cluster and Special Interest teacher nominations for the 2011-2012 school year can be located here:  Special Interest and Cluster Teachers of the Year 2010-2011.  The certificate we use to recognize the teachers is located here:  Excellence in Teaching Award.

If you have suggestions for activities for the upcoming year, please let us know.

Please call Ginny Boynton, President of CVSIPS at 766-8909; gaboynton@juno.com or Rose Braught, Vice President for CVSIPs at 612-6603; billnrose96@gmail.com for further information.

Thank you to Nick Clark who designed the CVSIPS logo and Patrick Chou who designed the website.
